About the Role

Apply your software engineering expertise to challenging open-source development work while contributing to the training of next-generation AI systems.

You’ll work within established open-source codebases to develop features, resolve complex bugs, refactor and optimize existing code, validate implementations, and solve technically demanding problems. The role requires strong programming ability, analytical thinking, and the ability to produce clean, maintainable, well-documented solutions.

No prior AI experience is required. Your software engineering expertise and ability to solve complex technical problems are what matter most.

Key Responsibilities

Open-Source Development

• Develop, implement, and refine features within existing open-source codebases.

• Work across codebases using languages such as Python, Java, Rust, C++, and TypeScript.

• Understand existing architecture and project standards before implementing changes.

• Deliver maintainable, production-quality code aligned with established coding practices.

Bug Fixing & Codebase Improvement

• Analyze and resolve complex software bugs.

• Refactor legacy code to improve readability, maintainability, and scalability.

• Identify opportunities for performance optimization.

• Diagnose technical issues and implement robust solutions.

Algorithms & Technical Problem Solving

• Apply advanced algorithms and competitive programming techniques to complex problems.

• Analyze multifaceted technical constraints and identify effective solution pathways.

• Develop efficient implementations while considering performance and scalability.

• Solve challenging coding problems across different programming environments.

Code Validation & Quality

• Validate implementations for accuracy and consistency.

• Review code against project standards and best practices.

• Identify issues in proposed changes and recommend improvements.

• Maintain high standards for code quality, reliability, and maintainability.

Collaboration & Documentation

• Collaborate remotely with other contributors on proposed changes.

• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.

• Maintain relevant project documentation.

• Produce clear technical write-ups explaining solution design and implementation details.

Required Skills & Experience

• Expert-level proficiency in at least two programming languages.

• Relevant languages include:

  • Python

  • C++

  • Java

  • Rust

  • TypeScript

  • Go

  • C#

• Extensive experience contributing to or working with open-source software.

• Strong experience in feature implementation, bug fixing, and codebase refactoring.

• Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve complex coding problems.

• Strong knowledge of algorithms and efficient problem-solving techniques.

• Ability to interpret complex technical constraints and evaluate multiple solution approaches.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication.

• Ability to produce clear, precise technical documentation.

• Strong attention to detail in coding, code review, validation, and maintenance.

• Ability to work independently in a remote, collaborative environment.

• Commitment to delivering high-quality, well-documented work within project deadlines.

Compensation

• $50–$100/hour equivalent

• Annualized Equivalent: $104,000–$208,000/year based on 40 hours/week

• Compensation is output-based, with payment made per task that meets project specifications.

• Time required to complete each task may vary based on experience and workflow.

• Minimum submission requirements apply, including a minimum number of tasks per week.

• The annualized figure is an hourly-equivalent reference and not a guaranteed annual salary.
