About the Role

Apply your competitive programming expertise to help develop and evaluate challenging reinforcement learning environments for next-generation AI systems.

You’ll create custom competitive programming problems, develop reference solutions and robust test suites, and build checkers capable of accurately validating multiple valid outputs and complex edge cases. The role requires advanced C++ skills, strong problem analysis, and meticulous attention to correctness and output consistency.

No prior AI experience is required. Your competitive programming expertise is what matters most.

Key Responsibilities

Problem Development & Competitive Programming

• Design unique competitive programming problems that are not already available on existing online judges.

• Create reliable reference solutions for custom problems.

• Develop comprehensive test suites covering expected behavior, edge cases, and diverse solution approaches.

• Analyze complex problem statements, constraints, and solution requirements.

Checker Development

• Design and implement robust checkers for problems with multiple valid outputs.

• Develop clear and maintainable C++ checker solutions.

• Evaluate participant submissions against complex problem requirements.

• Ensure checker logic correctly handles diverse outputs and edge cases.

• Validate output consistency and correctness efficiently.

Testing & Validation

• Test and validate submissions against detailed problem specifications.

• Identify ambiguities, inconsistencies, and weaknesses in test cases or checker implementations.

• Provide feedback on potential improvements to test cases and validation logic.

• Collaborate with the project team to refine requirements and resolve ambiguous scenarios.

Documentation & Collaboration

• Document checker logic, assumptions, and important edge cases.

• Communicate technical details clearly in written and verbal discussions.

• Collaborate remotely with problem setters, reviewers, and project stakeholders.

• Incorporate feedback to continuously improve problem and checker quality.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong expertise in competitive programming.

• Advanced proficiency in C++.

• Strong understanding of coding problem analysis and complex constraints.

• Ability to reason about multiple valid solution paths and outputs.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Experience developing robust code for complex technical requirements.

• Exceptional attention to detail in code validation and output consistency.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to clearly explain technical logic, assumptions, and edge cases.

• Ability to work independently in a remote, collaborative environment.

• Commitment to producing high-quality, well-documented work under deadlines.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience as a:

  • Competitive programming problem setter

  • Problem tester

  • Checker developer

• Experience working with major competitive programming platforms.

• Experience designing problems with multiple valid outputs.

• Experience developing custom validators or checkers.

Compensation

• Annualized Equivalent: $93,600–$135,200/year based on 40 hours/week

• Hourly Rate: $45–$65/hour

• Compensation is output-based, with payment made per task that meets project specifications.

• Time required per task may vary depending on experience and workflow.

• Minimum submission requirements apply, including a minimum number of tasks per week.

• The annualized figure is an hourly-equivalent reference and not a guaranteed annual salary.
