About the Role
We are seeking experienced Sociology Teachers, Postsecondary to contribute specialized academic expertise to an education-focused project involving the development and evaluation of high-quality learning and assessment materials.
You will use your knowledge of sociology, postsecondary teaching, assessment design, and academic research to create clear, rigorous, and measurable educational tasks and evaluation criteria. Your work will also contribute to improving how next-generation AI systems learn, reason, and perform.
No prior AI experience is required. Your subject-matter expertise and ability to apply strong academic and pedagogical standards are the key qualifications.
What You'll Do
Design assessment tasks grounded in sociological concepts, theories, and research.
Develop clear, measurable prompts that can be consistently interpreted and evaluated.
Create detailed assessment rubrics aligned with learning objectives and task requirements.
Apply established pedagogical frameworks, including Bloom’s taxonomy, when designing assessments.
Review educational materials and provide clear, constructive, and actionable feedback.
Evaluate work for accuracy, clarity, academic rigor, relevance, and authenticity.
Research and synthesize sociological literature to support assessment and rubric development.
Translate complex sociological theories and research into clear, practical educational content.
Document the reasoning, evaluation criteria, and standards behind assessment tasks and rubrics.
Collaborate asynchronously with other subject-matter experts and project stakeholders.
Refine tasks, rubrics, and educational materials based on peer and project feedback.
Maintain high standards of academic integrity and consistency across all deliverables.
What We're Looking For
PhD or ABD in Sociology or a closely related discipline.
Experience teaching Sociology or related subjects at the postsecondary level.
Demonstrated experience developing assessments, assignments, grading criteria, or rubrics.
Strong understanding of pedagogical principles and assessment frameworks, including Bloom’s taxonomy.
Strong knowledge of sociological theories, concepts, research methods, and relevant literature.
Experience conducting academic research and synthesizing complex information.
Ability to translate advanced subject matter into clear, measurable learning tasks.
Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
Ability to objectively review work and provide specific, constructive feedback.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to academic accuracy and rigor.
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in an asynchronous environment.
Ideal Candidate
This opportunity is well suited to a Sociology professor, lecturer, researcher, postsecondary instructor, academic assessment specialist, or sociology subject-matter expert with strong experience in assessment design, academic writing, research synthesis, and evaluating student or peer work.
Experience with AI is not required. The focus is on applying your existing expertise in sociology and postsecondary education to high-quality assessment and content development.
